Extremely Rare Daspletosaurus Tooth from the Two Medicine Formation
A rare tooth from a fearsome predator — likely a direct ancestor of the iconic Tyrannosaurus rex of North America. This specimen was discovered in the Two Medicine Formation, dating to the Late Cretaceous (Campanian stage, ~83 to 74 million years ago), in Pondera County, Montana, USA.
The specimen was legally collected on private deeded land with full permission.
Dimensions: 9.1 cm x 3 cm (approximately 3.58 x 1.18 inches)
Condition: Good — the tooth has been glued and there is a very minor restoration. Despite some wear, the serrations are complete. Notably, the serrations are finer than those typically observed in T. rex teeth. The specimen shows remarkable preservation and features a striking natural black coloration — a truly exceptional piece for any serious fossil collection.
